longest elliptical ever

Today, I worked out on the elliptical for the longest time yet, and the best part was that I hadn't worked out in days...and still made it!! I went 2,5 miles, uphill, and it took me 41 minutes....I kept a steady pace.  I was waiting on my friend to get to the gym and refused to get off until she got there!!  She finally made it, but it was about 20 minutes longer than I would have normally worked out on that machine...YAY!!! I just did arms and thighs for machines, but so happy to get in a great workout!!!

Adding Flaxseed Oil

My sister has been telling me about how wonderful the benefits of flaxseed oil are.  She researched it and then bought us a bottle to share.  She bought it from SOAP.com  It was an awesome price for an organic product.

Just a few of the benefits are:

Flax Seed Oil contains omega-6 and omega-9 essential fatty acids, B vitamins, potassium, lecithin, magnesium, fiber, protein, and zinc and also provides approximately 50% more omega-3 oils than what you could get from taking fish oil, minus that horrible "fishy" after taste.

Research shows low incidence of breast cancer and colon cancer in populations that have high amounts of lignan in their diet. Flax is 100 times richer in lignan than most whole grains, which helps protect the body against high blood pressure, inflammation, water retention, sticky platelets and lowered immune function.

Also shown to, shorten recovery time for fatigued muscles after exertion.
Increases the body's production of energy and also increases stamina.
Accelerates the healing of sprains and bruises.
Eases weight loss in people afflicted with obesity.
Stimulates brown fat cells and increases the metabolic rate making it easier to burn off fat.

Improves the absorption of Calcium.

Strengthens finger and toenails.
Can improve eyesight and perception of colors.
Can often improve the function of the liver.
Can relieve the side effects and stop development of many forms of cancer.
Can relieve some cases of Asthma.
Helpful in the treatment of Eczema, Psoriasis, and Dandruff.
Can relieve the symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis. It can relieve the symptoms of Diabetes Mellitus.
Can alleviate some allergies.

Has been scientifically proven to treat some cases of depression.
Can improve the mental function of many old age pensioners.
Can help in the treatment of Multiple Sclerosis.
Has been proven to improve the behavior of Schizophrenics.
Can relieve some cases of Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) in females.

There is so many more benefits, I could go on and on...my sister and I will taking 1-2 Tbs daily for the next 30 days and reporting benefits...we'll keep ya posted!

Thank you...i think

I joined the gym months ago and had reached a plateau...i had only lost around between 7-10 pounds.  But just in the last two weeks, I have lost several more...my total weight loss is 16 lbs.  I am happy, but not too happy.  I don't want to get excited and "reward" myself with a yummy dinner out and ruin it all.  You can't really tell by looking at me, but my clothes are loose on me and today I bought shorts that are two sizes smaller than where I started!!  YAY!  So, about that "thank you"...

Today at church, I am standing next to my Aunt during worship and she leans over and says to me, "I can tell you're losing weight..."  I am flabbergasted, because compliments are not really her "thing"...but then she finishes her sentence,  "you are shorter and your boobs are smaller"......GEE....Thanks, I think!  LOL!

What the heck could that really mean, and did she have to "finish that thought"?!?!?!?

It's Spring-almost!!

I am so happy that the sun is shining and the ice is melting!  I have been snowed in more than enough this winter.  Yesterday I met a friend at the gym and we walked and talked "kid free" on the elliptical.  I mention the kidless part b/c being snowed in together is taking a toll on my nerves!!  That was therapeutic all by itself, but then we did the circuit machines.  My legs actually feel a bit sore which makes me know I worked them hard.  I got the house cleaned, dinner ready and then walked to get Blake from school.  That's another mile down and makes me feel better all day long :)

Doing the math

To lose 1 pound of fat, you must burn 3500 calories, or create a calorie deficit (burn more than you eat) by 500 calories per day for a week.

adding "my life" page

In starting the Dr. Oz's Move it to Lose it challenge, I had to create a profile, write my bio, and give my testimony regarding my weight.  It was really hard to write it down.  I have always known that my biggest downfall with weight was that, in my life,  HAPPY TIMES = YUMMY FOOD.   I decided to add it to my health blog and it can be viewed HERE

Growing up, my Mom baked alot.  She was her happiest when she was baking.  She always had a fresh pie, home made cookies, sheet cake or something yummy for dessert.  But only if you cleaned your plate!!  No problem.

Don't get me wrong, I am NOT blaming my Mom for my being overweight....I am a grown adult and choose to eat the wrong things.  I feel so blessed that my Mom cooked homemade meals for us, we never went hungry and she was the reason for it.   Everyday,  I feel my Moms presence as I cook for my own children.  I try to make dishes as healthy as possible, watch portion size and no longer ask them to clean their plates, just try each food.

I know I need to make happy times around our home NOT about food in order to change this association between emotion and food, so I am going to be very observant and try to catch myself before rewarding them with a treat of any kind.  Maybe a game or activity instead?!?!?
